Learners Characteristics and Target Group

Target groups for this course are students who are seeking to develop their skills and knowledge in providing first aid and to further their career prospects or study pathways.

Course Duration

This unit will be delivered over 14 hour.

Delivery Mode and Location

This course will be delivered 8 hours face to face in classroom and 6 hours online.

Entry Requirement

Rockford College has the following entry requirements:
Students must:
• be at least 18 years of age
have sufficient language, literacy, and numeracy (LLN) skills, for example, to be able to read the training materials and write assessment tasks. This will be tested through an LLN assessment as part of the course entry process. Students will need to achieve ACSF level 2 for reading, writing, numeracy and oral communication to enter the course.

Pathway

The units HLTAID011 Provide First Aid is included in many courses within Training Packages. Therefore, a statement of attainment for these units can be used as credit for a range of courses.

Training Arrangements

Rockford College is fully equipped with infrastructures required to complete students’ training in an effective manner. Students are required to have access to a suitable study place at home or public library to help you complete your self-study component, assessment activities, or participation in online classes.

A face-to-face training and assessment and distance mode is employed for this course.

Students will be provided with a Training Manual (learning materials) which they will need to review prior to attending each class. After reviewing the Training Manual, students must also complete their theory assessments. This is classified as the structured self-study component.

All students will be provided with a range of learning support options and resources to help them achieve competency.

Rockford College uses a range of techniques during face-to-face delivery including trainer presentations and demonstrations, practical demonstrations, and group work. The context of the simulated workplace environment will be incorporated into delivery methodologies and students will complete tasks to appropriate workplace standards.

Assessment Arrangement

Each unit of competency involves combination of several assessment tasks. Assessment methods include writing reports, case study, presentation/observations, written research, assignments and questions answers, role play, practical demonstration group projects etc. More information is provided in the International Student Handbook on assessment systems, submission guidelines, reassessment arrangements etc.

Additional Support

Rockford College is committed to providing ongoing student support to our students. Our support staff will assist students from the time of enrolment until they complete the training program. Our support staff will engage with the individual student in a number of ways in order to understand their needs and provide necessary internal or external support in every step of their journey with Rockford College, so that they can successfully complete their course.

We will provide a wide range of learning support options and resources to assist students if required such as;

  • One to one support from the trainers and assessors to assist with their studies.
    Additional classes, tutorial, and workshops.
  • One to one support from the Administration relating to any student concerns such includes language, literacy and numeracy issues.
  • Additional support for learners who come from a non-English speaking background
  • Counselling support
  • Referral to relevant external services.
